Volume 2702
The Positronic Phantom
Das positronische Phantom
by Marc A. Herren

Pri Sipiera greets Perry Rhodan in one of many hiding places of the Lunar Resistance. His presence gives the underground fighters new hope. Rhodan learns about the current situation and the accusations by the Atopic Tribunal. Pri has no more information on the charges, because Shekval Genneryc's speech was also surprising for the Lunarians. Suddenly Rhodan sees a woman who seems to be reflecting in a mirror surface. It is the Positronic Phantom that the resisters have often received warnings from. IT happens again now: security forces of the Onryons attack the hiding place of the Lunar resistance and destroy the Lunafant hotel that they are under. The resisters flee, sacrificing one of themselves to stop the pursuers. His corpse is temporarily reanimated, and so the Onryons learn of Rhodan's presence. The resisters and Rhodan's group are now hiding in Beer & Mädler University. Again the phantom appears - it is YLA, NATHAN's daughter, and unlike her "father" she has not been influenced by the Onryons. YLA seems to ask Rhodan to come to him. They go to YLA’s sublunary center. This section of NATHAN was largely rebuilt; a major contributor to this was an ingenious Positronc specialist named Leyla Kezziban. In YLA's view, the allegations made against Rhodan do not lack a certain foundation, it only depends on one’s point of view ... YLA says that Luna has only one Atope there. His name is Matan Addaru Dannoer, and he is probably not Onryone.

In the meantime, Rhodan learns that Pris' father Antonin Sipiera had given the Onryons access to NATHAN in the face of catastrophic moonquakes while in the Shaft, so that the biopositronic could be linked to Genius (the Iacalla central computer). With the additional computing capacity, the Onryons were able to predict quakes and avoid losses. In addition, the Reportal could only be constructed with NATHAN’s help, a facility that would serve to accomplish the return of Luna into the standard universe. The ever-proliferating techno-mesh was part of this project. Through his collaboration with the Onryons, whose relationship with the Lunar people continued to deteriorate over the years, Sipiera had created enemies. Among them was Golo Sipiera, the "third party partner" in the marriage to Tamea Sipiera and Pri's genetic second father. Antonin did not want to hear Golo’s warnings. Golo founded the lunar resistance. The first battles - humans against humans, and later against Onryons - came on February 2, 1540 NGE (Lunar time), as Luna Town I to VI were cleared out on Antonin's order for the Reportal project. Finally, Pri had gone underground and taken over the leadership of the resistance. Two years later, the Reportal had finally been successfully activated and Luna returned to the Sol system.

Rhodan follows YLA's advice and decides to leave Luna with the Onryon ship PYTUU, which is about to launch. Fionn Kemeny, who is fascinated by YLA, as well as Shanda Sarmotte and Toufec want to stay on Luna to support the resistance. Before Rhodan is smuggled to the PYTUU with a transport of bioluminescent Anuupi jellyfish, he accompanies Pri on a risky mission. They steal an important object for the Onryons, known as the “Pelt”, from a temple in Luna City. The mission succeeds with Pazuzu’s help. Rhodan retreives the snake skin like cape from a block of lunar rock and takes it with him. No one knows the purpose of the Pelt. In addition, Rhodan takes along a sample of the material Patronite, which is used by the Onryons for a variety of purposes. Pazuzu states that Patronite has a very strong repulsive effect and is able to turn any other matter into Patronite.

Pazuzu sacrifices a large part of his nano-substance to help Rhodan’s escape. The spin-off simulates the properties of the PYTUU's Patronite hull and sticks to the ship's outer skin like a bubble, allowing Rhodan to hide there unnoticed. The PYTUU and several dozen other ships, including a two thousand one hundred meter diameter spaceship, cross the Repulsor Wall and engage in a space battle with Terran units. It is little more than a cautious skirmish. After the two associations split, Rhodan moves away from the PYTUU and secretly contacts the KRUSENSTERN who retrieves him…
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I'm really enjoying the early stage of this cycle. There's plenty of action and movement happening. When YLA and NATHAN eventually have a conversation it's going to feel schizophrenic. I'm also interested in seeing if the KRUSENSTERN gets a bigger share in the action later on. Time will tell...

And that's why I'm reading this cycle a second time right now. I'm a bit ahead of your current synopsis, about 50 issues, and I enjoy it very much!
Only want to tell you: It's quite a ride! Some aspects of it are still stirring minds of some forists here five years after.

2703 Death in Space

Beitrag von jerrys109 »

2703
Tod im All
Death in Space
Bernd Perplies

Perry Rhodan is fished from space by the KRUSENSTERN. He gives Viccor Bughassidow as much of the plain truth as he can afford to, and leaves the Pelt with the Ara Medic Jatin, Bughassidow’s personnel physician. She finds out that the Pelt is a quasi-organic artificial being whose cell organelles contain nanomachines. As Jatin's colleague Henna McCorrell is left alone with the Pelt, it suddenly comes to life. It forms pseudopodia and a stinger with which it draws blood from the woman to strengthen herself. She does not survive the attack. After that, the Pelt disappears somewhere in the ship. Rhodan personally participates in the hunt and realizes that the Pelt is after him. The being kills other crew members. Each time the Pelt sucks blood from its victims, it becomes bigger and smarter. It is not enough to hurt it, because it has neither a central nervous system, nor can it be significantly weakened by the loss of body substance. The Pelt even appears in the headquarters and threatens Rhodan's granddaughter Farye Sepheroa. Rhodan sets himself up as bait and lures the Pelt into a sloop, which is then directed into space by Farye. She gets to safety with the detachable cockpit. Then the sloop is destroyed by the guns of the KRUSENSTERN. From the Pelt remain only small remains, which are kept safe by Rhodan.

On Terra, Sichu Dorksteiger, who is dealing with the problem of linear space torpedoes, receives a message from Dr. Lhukas Scalsi. The Medic looked at Tasso Cormac, the only survivors of the Terran aid convoy destroyed by the Onryons. The man is in a coma, but Scalsi knows a way Sichu can "question" him. With a modification of the SERT technique Scalsi has developed the method of simultaneous emotion and mnemonic transmission (SEMT). Through two interconnected SEMT hoods the thoughts of one person can be transferred to and received by another. Although the technology is not yet fully developed, Sichu allows its use due to the special situation and makes herself available as the second person. She witnesses the destruction of the HILDEGARD VON BINGEN through the eyes of Tasso and learns that the sensor buoy provided with a black box from the ship must be drifting somewhere in the field of debris. Sichu initiates the search for the black box.

Then Sichu receives a coded message from the KRUSENSTERN parked outside the Sol system. Bughasidov invites the LFT Chief Scientist to talk to him about the theory of the Medusa planets. She accepts the invitation because Rhodan's ID is hidden in the message. Sichu meets Rhodan on June 24, 1514 NGE in Bughassidow's private ship. She receives the remains of the Pelt and returns to Terrania. Rhodan accompanies Bughassidow to Rhea to avoid the Onryons for now.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I am loving the cycle so far! They are wasting no time, just standing around. It looks like they are not going focus heavily on Rhodan's granddaughter, but with good reasoning. Rhodan understands that being in his life usually goes badly for his family.

I'm glad there's so much going on. I just hope it's a while before we get one of the alien slice of life issues. They are so slow.

2704 The Return of the JULES VERNE

Beitrag von jerrys109 »

Nr. 2704
Die Rückkehr der JULES VERNE
The Return of the JULES VERNE
von Michael Marcus Thurner

With the approval of Solar Premier Cai Cheung, First Terran Arun Joschannan sends 2500 LFT-BOXES under the command of Colonel Girma Teshale to the Sol system to the Onryonen to show whom they are tangling with. Cheung asks Teshale, for whom a delivery of Perry Rhodan to the Onryons would be a conceivable option to temporarily wait outside the system. After learning about Sichu Dorksteiger's latest findings and approving the search for the black box of the HILDEGARD VON BINGEN, Cheung sends the slightly sociopathic TLS agent Ghiyas Khosrau to Andro-Delta via the Polyport network. He is supposed to contact Reginald Bull there. Bull is in Andromeda with the JULES VERNE, the Terrans' most powerful spacecraft, to investigate the disruptions of various Polyport Courts and Distributor Depots. The barbell spaceship has docked at the KO-Selfless, a Paddler shipyard platform, which is located in the Leém inhabited Apheé system with the Polyport Court DARWAG. Their contact in the platform is the whimsical robot Quick Silver.

Khosrau’s transport to DARWAG does not run smoothly and lasts unusually long. Similar problems in using the Polyport network have been occurring for quite some time. Khosrau's thoughts become confused. His Minor Globe MORGIANA is damaged and threatens to crash into the ice world Laúm. Bull sends three space jets to secure the MORGIANA. Bull, who has yet to get back at Khosrau because of an unpleasant incident long ago, is informed by the agent about the current situation in the Sol system. Bull immediately initiates the return of the JULES VERNE to the solar system - by means of a solar transmitter, as a safety precaution. Just before the departure Jawna Togoya is visited and warned by Quick Silver. The robot says the JULES VERNE is flying into a trap. He also manages to do something unobserved in the barbell ship, but what this is cannot be discovered at present.

Meanwhile, Shekval Genneryc has again contacted Cheung and prohibited further use of the Polyport network due to the disturbances in its systems. Sichu Dorksteiger investigates the seemingly dead remains of the Pelt that Rhodan had supplied her and is attacked by it. However, the thing breaks down into dust before it can do any damage. The JULES VERNE reaches the Sol system on June 28, 1514 NGE and is immediately attacked by numerous Onryon ships. Bull tests the performance of the enemy weapon systems. Three Space Fathers are destroyed with the Paratron launchers of the barbell ship. The Onryons finally bring the JULES VERNE into such distress that it must flee in Trafitron mode from the Sol system. Since it does not fly in linear space, the linear space torpedoes are ineffective. Shekval Genneryc promptly demands the extradition of the JULES VERNE. Since Cheung does not agree to this, he intervenes in the solar news network and declares the JULES VERNE as a fugitive. The person one who provides the crucial clue for the capture of the ship will receive a cell activator as a reward...
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I loved this issue. There was tension, humor and characterization galore. If this keeps up, this could end up my favorite cycle in a long time .

A side note: The next synopsis will be delayed a couple days beyond the norm, as I will be attending my son's college graduation and I'll lose a few days translation time. :D

2705 The Clan of the Unworthy

Beitrag von jerrys109 »

Volume 2705
The Clan of the Unworthy
Die Sippe der Würdelosen
by Michael Marcus Thurner

Shekval Genneryc's offer does not only arouse indignant rejection among the inhabitants of the Sol system, for the prospect of relative immortality is very tempting. There are some spectacular individual actions. Someone tries to kidnap Cai Cheung, and another breaks into Perry Rhodan's house. Press, stars and celebrities spread the most diverse opinions. Colonel Girma Teshale says in a public statement that she believes Perry Rhodan should be extradited to the Onryones.

Mehandor Patriarch Audunt, the head of the Tusnetz -Sippe despised by all the other galactic traders, has been sitting with his VALLARD and more than a dozen other ships in the Sol system since the flight ban on linear flight established by the Onryones. Their funds are becoming scarce. Abanell, Audunt’s illegitimate son and deputy, wants to take Audunt’s place. He is backed by his intriguing lending sister Wawacoon but serves the Patriarch faithfully for the time being. After the destruction of the Terran aid convoys Audunt considers a new opportunity. Abanell offers Onryonen Ctamio Ifmald, who is guarding the debris field, the support of the Clan of the Unworthy and receives permission to salvage from the shipwrecks. This makes the clan interesting for Sichu Dorksteiger, because the Terrans are denied entry into the rubble field. In order to get to the black box of the HILDEGARD VON BINGEN, Dorksteiger makes a costly business deal with Abanell. Proving she is not as likely to cheat as Abanell believes, she arranges for the transfer of a hefty sum and gives the clan transport monopolies for some LFT-owned worlds. Abanell keeps his word too, retrieves the black box and hands it over to Dorksteiger.

Meanwhile, the JULES VERNE hides in the detection shadow of the sun PHP-39. Ghiyas Khosrau and his equipment are being investigated, as Reginald Bull believes that the TLS agent is a traitor or at least manipulated by the Onryones so that they could intercept Bull and thus the barbell ship on arrival at the Sol system. However, no abnormalities are detected. To be on the safe side, the agent should, at his own suggestion, use a space jet to be taken away from the ship. On the way to the hangar Khosrau’s left forearm develops a sinister life of its own. The arm releases itself from his body. Energy jets flick from its fingertips, killing two security guards and destroying multiple TARAs. Khosrau barely escapes death when his arm explodes. At the time, it is June 29, 1514 NGE, and the JULES VERNE attacks a fleet of Onryones. The enemy ships are shot to scrap. Boarding parties invade a smaller unit, apparently escorted by the others, and capture an injured Onryone. He is examined and identified. His name is Caileec Maltynouc and he is a Marshal - the personal confidant of Chuvs, a judge of the Atopic Tribunal. He is secretly pleased that the plan for him to be caught has worked. According to captured date, Chuvs is said to be at the black hole Tephaya in the center of the Milky Way. Bull rightly believes that he is being led into a trap, but cannot miss this possible opportunity, so the JULES VERNE heads there…
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I really enjoyed this issue. It's always fun to see the Springers again. If you know anything about Dungeons and Dragons - they are so Lawful/Chaotic!
And if I visualize the Khosrau storyline, it wold have made a nice little horror film short. Psychpath that he might be, the poor guy just has no luck.

2706 Star Grave

Beitrag von jerrys109 »

Nr. 2706
Star Grave
Sternengrab
by Michael Marcus Thurner

The Onryone Caileec Maltynouc turns out to be a shapeshifter of the Jaj race. It becomes clear that his plan was to take over the JULES VERNE from the outset. For this he already influenced the TLS agent Ghiyas Khosrau during his Polyport transfer to Andromeda. Using Khosrau and his own skills, he poisons the crew of the JULES VERNE and influences them in an unknown manner. Only Reginald Bull and Jawna Togoya remain unaffected.

Matters come to a head at the black hole Tephaya. Part of the crew infected by the virus literally explode, causing indescribable chaos. Caileec Maltynouc disappears into an unknown hiding place. The Medostation is completely destroyed. The crew losses are painful, but Bull is certainly still not willing to give up the persecution of the Judge ship. When he issues corresponding orders, the affected crew sets in motion, leaving the spaceship on two cruisers and flying towards the black hole.

Reginald Bull is ready to sacrifice the JULES VERNE as well as himself to save the crew. At his side is the hologram of the Meta-runner Ilz Namib. This hologram triggers the Hypervastor Flash at the insistence of Bull, in order to dazzle a suddenly emerging fleet of Onryones and give the JULES VERNE enough time to destroy the attacking fleet. Bull sends Jawna Togoya who has saved his life from an explosion, to launch and control the four NAUTILUS sloops, while he takes the JULES VERNE closer to the cruisers. He manages to retrieve them, but the JULES VERNE can no longer escape the black hole. He wants to send the crew to safety on the NAUTILUS cruisers through a transmitter. But the normal transmitters are not operational due to the close proximity of the black hole. That's why Namib makes the so-called Trafitron Switch available to them. This makes the transmitter passage possible. All the crew members are ordered through, but Bull discovers that NEMO cannot survive long enough to give them all time to get through the transmitter. He flees to the White Hall, hoping that the technology of the Cosmocrats anchored there can give him time to save the crew. He is joined by Caileec Maltynouc, who at gunpoint grandly and triumphantly explains to Bull how he had accomplished everything he did.

Bull manages to convince the power controlling the White Hall to help him save the crew. But he and Maltynouc cannot make it out themselves. The black hole Tephaya destroys the JULES VERNE and spits out the debris.

Shortly thereafter, the surviving cruisers surprisingly discover the arrival of the robot Quick Silver, who quickly collects the alleged debris of the VERNE and disappears again…

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

RIP JULES VERNE. They destroyed her! NOOOOO..... I'll miss that ship. They never fully explored all the Meta-runner technology on it properly. Oh well, maybe we'll see more of at least the White Hall when they finally go back to Quick Silver and Bull later in the cycle. The actionis not stopping yet in this cycle. I hope it continues.

Brass Dreamers
Messingträumer
by Wim Vandemaan

Perry Rhodan is flying on Viccor Bughassidow's KRUSENSTERN. The ship is on its way to Bughassidow's homeworld Rhea in the Taranis system. Rhea is an earth-sized satellite of the gas giant Iapetos. It is mainly inhabited by Terrans. Cheborparners, Akones and Arkonides also live there. Bughassidow's estate is located on the Great Kernow continent near the major metropolis of New Trerice. Rhodan uses the travel time to first get together with his granddaughter Farye Sepheroa. Hes till leaves their familial relationship unmentioned.

Rhodan believes that he could temporarily submerge on Rhea, but already on June 25, 1514 NGE, the day of Rhodan's arrival, there appears a strange ship in the form of a flying wing with two hundred meters wingspan. The only creature on board is Dhayqe, who calls himself a Tesqire. He is an advocate of the Atopic Tribunal, and further Tesqires appear in the following period in the Wega and Illema systems, at the Swoon homeworld and in the Crystal Imperium. Dhayqe, an extremely slim humanoid with two elbow joints each, four-fingered hands, an oversized neck, an egg-shaped head, and snow-white skin, who is very friendly and informs them that he wants to promote the aims and purposes of the Tribunal. Pinar Cantanzaro, Administrator of the Taranis system, demands a thorough investigation of Dhayqe and his ship, the KEEN OF HEARING IS THE EAR OF JUSTICE. It shows that the ship is full of technology, which could just as well come from Terran production - except for the walls comprised of what Dhayqe refers to as Flexopärm, a flexible casing material, which has a strong memory effect. In addition, it is noted that Dhayqe's brain has many mirror neurons that allow him a strong natural empathy. He can thus adjust very well to moods and feelings of other living beings or even imitate them. Given that Dhayqe poses no threat, he Is allowed to land on Rhea while his ship remains in orbit. Ex USO-Agent Freeman Zennor, commander of the patrol vessel TRELAWNY is to shadow the stranger unnoticed.

Rhodan, Bughassidow and Marian Yonder visit the Museum of Automated Crafts on Rhea. They are looking for a plasma commander to equip the KRUSENSTERN with it and thus make it more efficient. Although there is such an offshoot of the Central Plasma of the Hundred Suns world in the MAC, it is too "out of it" and has no interest in leaving the museum. From Tean Gorsline, Rhodan and his companions acquire the information that there is a second plasma commander in the colony on the continent of Blostonia. The Arkonides living on Rhea are emigrated brass dreamers - users of a new technolgy, which is the latest craze among the noble Arkonides and was illegal in the Crystal Imperium for a while. The mental dreamer's Mental Dilation Helmets puts them into a networked virtual reality where time passes more slowly. A real year is equivalent to ten brass years, so a brass dreamer, if he lives exclusively in virtual reality, can experience more than one lifetime.

With the help of the German shepherd Samart, who belongs to a Posbi of the KRUSENSTERN, the plasma commander is tracked down to the funnel of the Arkonide Announ da Zoltral. Since Rhodan belongs to the family by marriage, he and his companions gain access. The bioplasma brain is itself a brass dreamer; in fact, it virtually creates the virtual reality in which the numerous (masculine and handsome) Lemurian descendants lounging around the funnel are living their adventures. Rhodan has to go into the brass dream to convince the plasma commander to move to the KRUSENSTERN.

In the meantime, Zennor follows his target at every turn. Dhayqe, with his friendly nature, gets on well with the Rheanans. When he appears on a talk show, he even manages to convince viewers of the legitimacy of the actions of the Atopic Tribunal - at least until two hundred forty Onryone spaceships materialize in the Taranis system. Their commander Becenna Toschk imposes a linear flight ban. All arriving and departing ships are to be checked. Thus, Rhodan and his friends (which now Announ da Zoltral belongs to) have come up with a trick to let them carry out Announ’s proposal to fly to Perkon in the Crystal Imperium. There in the property of the da Zoltral space shipyard DARRID, is the equipment needed to install the bioplama brain in the KRUSENSTERN. In addition, the required (including for the brass helmets) Balpirol semiconductors are manufactured on Perkon. Announ transported the plasma commander with her three hundred meter spacecraft HEYDRANGOTHA. The Onryonian inspectors are told that the plasma is an exotic food. The ship is allowed to fly on. The KRUSENSTERN with Rhodan on board follows.

Zennor follows Dhayqe into his hotel suite. The Tesqire wears a seemingly harmless medallion. In fact, it's a kind of biomechanical high-tech instrument that Dhayqe uses to stage his own abduction. Dhayqe flies to Space Port Penrhyn under a deflector screen and returns to his ship with a drifter (an autonomous cargo container). Zennor succeeds in following the Tesqire as well. But suddenly the deflector field of his combat suit goes out. Dhayqe knew that he was being shadowed all along...
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Wow! Turning back the hands of time with his marriage to Thora. Cool! And plenty of espionage action to give my fill of excitement. I do hope that the Galactics keep having some successes as time goes on. :>

2708 Four Against ITHAFOR

Beitrag von jerrys109 »

2708
Four Against ITHAFOR
Vier gegen ITHAFOR
by Arndt Ellmer/Christian Montillon

The Polyport Court ITHAFOR-5 is nominally controlled by the Shadow Maahks but is de facto owned by the Blues. The Weddone Ghöllrysch stores the only existing A-controller in his office. Five hundred fifty ships of the Jülziish secure the yard form the Tefroder fleet whose commander Maalun currently carries out no actons, because otherwise the Onryones would intervene. However, the High Tamaron Vetris-Molaud secretly prepares the conquest of the Court. His Mutant Corps should prepare the way for the prepared landing troops. The four agents receive their orders in the Star of Apsuma, the seat of government of the New Tamanium on the planet Tefor . The Mutant Corps consists of:

Team leader Satafar. He has the face of an old man, the body of a ten-year-old child and the power of an Ertruser. With the drug Gholen he can temporarily smooth his facial skin, so that he really looks like a child.

Vital Telepath Toio Zindher. She can see the vital energy and moods of living things like an aura. So she can tell if someone is healthy or ill, and if he is lying or telling the truth.

Pain - or Paradox Teleporter Lan Meota . He can teleport himself and another person in a way nobody has ever known of before. For him, it is like crossing a strange landscape. The transport process always takes two minutes and nine seconds. This is associated with severe pain for him, so he has to recover afterwards. He can also move objects from up to four meters away without having to see or touch them. He cannot be stopped by multidimensional screens or para-traps.

Super scientist Trelast-Pevor. He has no real para-abilities, but no technological system is safe from him.
Shortly before the Mutant Corps, Tefrodian agents Benjuber-Wocaud and Holoter-Lyst arrive in the Polyport Court with bio-cocoons that let them appear to be Blues. They have no idea that they are intended to be sacrificed to provide a distraction for the Mutant Corps. Their comrades themselves ensure that the two agents are discovered and killed. Toio and the "rejuvenated" Satafar are posing as mother and child. Satafar pretends to be terminally ill and need B-hormone, which Toio is to acquire from a Jülziish woman giving birth. Lan Meota pretends to be a Terran middleman while Trelast-Pevor hacks the station systems. Toio, Satafar and Lan intentionally get themselves arrested.

When they discover the two have brought along a Dreadworm egg (of course it is only a replica), Polyport Court Administrator Ghoehlrysch and his Akonian security chief, Berháan ter Pikour, raise all the alarm bells. Ghöllrysch takes the prisoners to his office, giving them a chance to put Lan in the position to teleport the controller out of the safe. Satafar kills the security guards in the office with his tremendous physical strength, Lan teleports Berháan ter Pikour's brain out of his skull, and Trelast-Pevor remotely makes sure nobody else can enter the office. Ghoehlrysch has no choice but to surrender. Thus, ITHAFOR -5 is now in the hands of the Tefroders from July 9, 1514 NGE. In honor of the agents "fallen in the fight" Vetris-Molaud renames the Court WOCAUD.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I am surprised at how reliably entertaining the cycle has been so far. Espionage, action, mutants... this issue has all the elements i love in a PR issue. I hope we get to see more of the Tefroder Mutant Corps once Gucky finally gets back in gear. The one problem I have with the whole thing is that Perry has a master controller, so once he gets clear for a bit, what is to stop him from deactivating the ITHAFOR-5 controller and taking it back from the Tefroders?

2709 The Perfect Hunter

2709
The Perfect Hunter
Der perfekte Jäger
By Susan Schwrtz

Shekval Genneryc instructs the Jaj – a shapeshifter - Leza Vlyoth, who is nicknamed the Perfect Hunter, with the capture or elimination of Icho Tolot. The Marshall is delighted, as hunting for a Haluter is the greatest challenge for him to date. With his spaceship XYANGO, as reconfigurable as he is, and a pool of his own excess body substance, Vlyoth travels and prepares. He needs help to determine the location of Tolot. In the guise of the Linguide Yoanu Quont , he recruits the rebellious young Anti Peo Tatsanor because he has - without even knowing it - very strong Para-abilities.

Vlyoth trains the Báalol as his apprentice and takes him to Tahun. There, the dying Haluter Fancan Teik is being looked after. Teik keeps his body permanently dense and reacts to nothing. The responsible physician, Dr. Athanasiu Boulgard XII, already knows Quont and gets blackmailed by him. Under the pretext of helping the Haluter, Tatsanor invades Teik's mind. He uses the drug Glass Frost (which the Jaj already uses himself), which strengthens their powers. Tatsanor wears down the Haluter with the technique of the fire of truth - mental torture - and receives the desired information. Fancan Teik dies from the attack.

Icho Tolot, the old Haluter Luto Faonad and Luto’s sixty-year-old child Avan Tacrol are exploring the Medusa planet Kamaad in the Orion Nebula. Tolot had returned from Anthuresta to the Milky Way in 1484 NGE and has been collaborating with Viccor Bughassidow. The Haluters have found relics of an unknown civilization on Kamaad: an artificially created milky ocean, a sculpture shaped like a giant eight-fingered hand, and a building that they call a termite mound. Vlyoth's ship reconfigures itself and takes the form of Teik's 350-meter MORAN spherical spaceship. It arrives at Kamaad on July 7, 1514 NGE. Vyloth destroys Tolot's spaceship HALUTA IV. Then he gets into the basin and absorbs all the amorphous biomass, because he needs it to take on a new form...
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Not too bad an issue. Vlyoth is an interesting character. It will be interesting to see if he is a short term character or if they'll develop him/her/it over the cycle. The XYANGO reminds me a bit of the MIKRU-JON, but is probably not actually related it it. Next issue should be a lot of fun. The hunter and his protege/patsy versus three Haluters.- woo boy!

2710 Haluter Hunt

Haluter Hunt
Haluter-Jagd
By Hubert Haensel

Leza Vlyoth is not tempted to act too hastily even with Peo Tatsanor's impatience. He wants to fully enjoy the hunt for Icho Tolot. The Haluter should not be killed but taken prisoner to answer to the Atopic Tribunal for the crimes he committed in common with Perry Rhodan in the Tribunal’s view. The Jaj takes the form of a Uleb to be superior to Tolot in close combat. When the XYANGO, which has become a Haluter ship, lands on Kamaad, the Haluters stranded there after the annihilation of the HALUTA IV believe in salvation, especially as someone makes contact, who speaks with Fancan Teik's voice. But the Haluters are falling into a trap. TARs containing bombs are sent down and detonated. Luto Faonad gets mutilated by plasma burns. Tolot and Avan Tacrol bring him into the Milk Ocean with their submersible, but Faonad succumbs shortly after from his heavy wounds.

Tacrol swears revenge. Tolot can barely restrain the impulsive young Haluter. The two flee into the termite mound, a possibly organic, still living entity. There they are trapped by Vlyoth and Tatsanor who have more TARAS with them. Tacrol is captured, while Tolot must flee. With his Glass Frost- enhanced para-skills, the Anti tortures the young Haluter. Vlyoth records the cries of pain and lets them ring out of loudspeakers again and again in the termite mound. Tolot leaves the mound and uses the submersible to attack the XYANGO and penetrate into the spaceship. It comes again to a battle against the supposed Uleb. Only now does Tolot learn of the existence of the Atopic Tribunal and Vlyoth's true intentions. Tolot is captured by to the form simulator. Damned to motionlessness in a field of energy, Tolot notices that the temperature begins and continues to fall. Soon absolute zero will be reached...

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Whew! A very tense issue, with plenty of scene chewing action. I had a great time editing the translation and am anxious to see what happens next. Poor Icho Tolot, he's having no luck.

2711 Trap for the Hunter

Beitrag von jerrys109 »

No. 2711
Trap for the Hunter
Falle für den Jäger
by Leo Lukas

While the Plasma Commander is being installed in the KRUSENSTERN - it later names himself ADAM - Perry Rhodan learns of the annihilation of the JULES VERNE and informs Farye Sepheroa that she is his granddaughter. She is not impressed by this. ADAM picks up the emergency call of the HALUTA IV. With the approval of the Posbis, who are eager to fight for their hero Rhodan, the KRUSENSTERN flies to the planet Kamaad, where it arrives on July 12, 1514 NGE. Rhodan takes command of the old Posbi ship. On the spot there will be an encounter with the XYANGO.

Leza Vlyoth makes no secret of Icho Tolot's capture. Rhodan reveals himself and demands the release of the Haluters. The XYANGO leaves, but Rhodan is sure it will return soon. He’s correct, but the Jaj spaceship has taken the form of a Springer cylinder, pretending to be Mehandors, allegedly lured by the HALUTA IV emergency call. The deception is seen through too late. The XYANGO rams the KRUSENSTERN and pierces the hull. Vlyoth and some TARAs board the Fragment ship to seize Rhodan.

The shapeshifting simulator falls into a trap as he pursues Rhodan - it is actually Viccor Bughassidow in a full body mask. The real Rhodan has already penetrated the XYANGO with some Posbis and freed Tolot and Avan Tacrol. The jaj is rendered harmless with energy shackles in the KRUSENSTERN. But Peo Tatsanor, now completely dependent on the drug Glass Frost, brings the on-board doctor Jatin into his power. A small part of Vlyoth's body substance takes over Posbi Lot 909, So Vlyoth can be freed. He kidnaps Bughassidov and wants to return to XYANGO before Rhodan can leave. The two groups collide there.

Vlyoth did not count on the fighting power of the Posbis and the wrath of the liberated Haluters. Tatsanor's weakness turns out to be crucial in the fight. The Ara Medic is freed from his influencing and tells Rhodan to destroy Lot 909. By the death of his split off body substance, the shapeshifter goes into a frenzy. Vlyoth has to flee alone. Rhodan lets him go; otherwise he would have had to risk the annihilation of the KRUSENSTERN. Tatsanor falls into the hands of Rhodan's people. He passes on to Rhodan all the information he has received from Vlyoth about the Atopic Tribunal . The Terran agrees to meet with Bostich near the Perkon system.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I can't believe how much I'm enjoying this cycle. By this point things are usually slowing down a bit, as they insert an alien day in the life or alien history issue, but so far it's been one action issue after another and this one is no different. Keep it going people.

2712 - The Assassins of Luna City

Beitrag von jerrys109 »

Nr. 2712
The Assassins of Luna City
Die Attentäter von Luna City
von Marc A. Herren

The information gained by Perry Rhodan about Leza Vlyoth and his shape changing spaceship XYANGO are sent to Cai Cheung via Sichu Dorksteiger. The Solar Premier passes the information on to the appropriate places. Meanwhile, the Jaj returns unnoticed into the Sol system, reports to his patrons and demands to be allowed to speak to Atope Matan Addaru Dannoer. For this purpose, he has gone to Luna where he uses the boring wait to infiltrate the Lunar resistance movement. In the guise of Laurence Wu he participates in a speech by Antonin Sipiera. The Administrator publicly announces that the rumors about the return of the moon to its original place are true. Allegedly, the adjustment process is still ongoing, so nobody can leave the moon. In addition, a terrible war is emerging. To prove it, he shows pictures of a destroyed Terran fleet - the fleet that in truth has fallen prey to the Onryonic linear space torpedoes. The Allied judges of the Atopic Tribunal, Sipiera claims, will protect Luna.

Vlyoth aka Wu sits in the auditorium and protests. He thus draws the attention of Moana Tapu, a recruit of the Resistance. The two become a couple. Moana Tapu is convinced that the Resident must be eliminated. Pri Sipiera, leader of the Lunar Resistance, strictly rejects this, although she understands that her father knowingly disseminates misinformation and propaganda for the Onryones. Therefore, Wu, Tapu and two other resisters undertake a solo attack on July 19, 1514 NGE. The assassination fails, and all but Tapu’s instructor Angh Pegola are killed – or at least that's what Pegola thinks. Wu / Vlyoth survives, for after all, he has carefully prepared the whole thing.

Pri has now befriended Shanda Sarmotte and showed her one of three areas, which contain a special form of the Techno-braid. These include the Nectar structure, a black-and-red checkerboard in Mare Nectaris, and the Black Palace in Petavius Crater. As Pri and Shanda approach the Black Palace, the telepath has very strange sensations. For them it is as if the whole structure has been punched out of reality. After the failed assassination attempt, Pri plans an expedition to Mare Nubium. There is the so-called snakeskin and there the techno-weave is shaping up so much that, according to YLA’s findings, a special event must be imminent.

Leza Vlyoth is also interested in this peculiarity. In a conversation with a Genifer (an Onryone communicating with NATHAN through a Genius computer), he learns that the Synapse Priory is in the Mare Nubium.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

My goodness, such nasty surprises, I love it! The action is not stopping and I'm loving it. Leza Vlyoth is a worthy villain, reminding me of Shallowain the Hound from back in the times of Kantiran Rhodan. I hope this one lasts as long.

2713 In the Sea of Clouds

Beitrag von jerrys109 »

No. 2713
In the Sea of Clouds
Im Wolkenmeer
by Christian Montillon

Angh Pegola was bugged by Leza Vlyoth. The hunter can thus follow the activities of a group of the Lunar Resistance to which Pegola belongs at any time. The Jaj realizes that the resisters are targeting the Synaptic Priory in Mare Nubium. With the approval of Chancellor Fheyrbasd Hannacoy - who disregards Shekval Genneryc’s objection - Vlyoth begins the hunt for the group. Pri Sipiera, Shanda Sarmotte, Toufec and Fionn Kemenyare are part of it. The hunter secretly paves the way for the group to the Synaptic Priory and prepares an ambush there. Three unsuspecting Onryones are sent as sacrificial pawns to make sure the group heads the right way. They fall into the hands of the Lunar Resistance group and tell them where their supervisor's office is. From this Pri and her companions expect to gain further insights. They thereby act according to plan, because Vlyoth awaits them personally in the form of the high ranking Onryone.

Pegola, however, separates from the group, because he is keen to cause the greatest possible destruction in the Synapse Priority. He can therefore be hailed as a savior, rushing to help when his companions are attacked by battle robots and Onryones. However, this attack is not as surprising as expected by Vlyoth, because Shanda at the last moment telepathically realized that it was a trap. The resisters area able to flee. Pegola then meets the Toloceste named At the Roentgen House. This being makes him aware of the direction finder in his body. The Lunarian removes the thing with his disintegrator, which seriously injures him. His companions recover him and now also encounter the Toloeste. Kemeny is intrigued by the strange being and learns valuable information: The bulk of the techno-plexus serves to accumulate energy for the transpositor network. These transpositories (there are tens of thousands of them) are needed to create a structure field that could be used to move the moon elsewhere. The techno-mesh is nothing more than a gigantic transition engine! The Tolapeste-based Synaptic Prioriy serves as the control center for this. It is clear that the Onryones are not the creators of the whole thing. Due to his destructive work Pegola has seriously set back the apparently shortly before commissioning plant.

Vlyoth keeps track of his victims despite the failure of the beacon signal, and tracks them down again, furious that his trap was mentally overheard at the last moment. Angh knows he has only a few hours to live and sacrifices himself by firing all the bombs he carries at the same time, in order to give the team the chance to escape. The persecutors suffer heavy casualties and Vlyoth is mortally wounded. Pri’s group returns to Luna-City on August 2, 1514 NGE. Vlyoth has failed again. He wants to die, but he is revived in a Medo-station - in his true form, which is no longer a secret to Shekval Genneryc…

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The first secret of the invaders has been uncovered and the Perfect Hunter is out of action for the time being. So much is going on, that nobody has time to breathe. What a blast!

2714 The Ultimatum of the Onryones

Beitrag von jerrys109 »

No. 2714
The Ultimatum of the Onryones
Das Ultimatum der Onryonen
by Uwe Anton

The conquest of the Polyport Court ITHAFOR-5 was more of a symbolic act, as the Tefroders cannot use this transport system, as long as they only have an A-controller at their disposal. With their higher-level controllers, the Shadow Maahks responsible for the Polyport network prevent any inbound and outbound transfers. Anyway, the Tefroders have assumed this so far, but on July 28, 1514 NGE the transfer chimneys activate automatically. Chief Scientist Famather Myhd observes strange phenomena in the transport process and then finds a fossilized finger a transfer chimney after it deactivates again. The phalanges cannot be assigned to any known living race. Commander Gornen Kandrit does not consider the find particularly exciting until Myhd finds that the finger is 19.442 billion years old and thus older than the universe itself. But it has to come from the standard universe, because the value of its Strangeness is zero. Projjid Tyx, the former Jülziish Chief Scientist trapped in the Court, provides the only logical explanation for this paradox: the fossilized finger is probably from a distant future!

Colonel Anna Patoman hates inaction, but must stand idly by, as once again Jülziish and Tefroder fleets collide in the Ghatamyz system. The Jülziish suffer another defeat. Further units of the New Tamanium appear. This time, troop-carriers are included, as the Tefroders are planning an invasion of the planet Ghatam. Patoman understands this, but must not intervene, because the divided Galacticum could not yet reach a decision on its further course of action. The next battle seems inevitable, but then four hundred fifty spaceships of the Onryones appear. Ghonvar Toccepur announces himself from his flagship, the Space Father CHARILL, and forbids any fighting. The Tefroders promptly receive reinforcement by seven hundred warships. Among them is Vetris-Molaud with the VOHRATA. The Tefroders attack, using transition engines so that they are safe from the linear space torpedoes. Vetris-Molaud leads the Onryones and thus achieves exactly what the Terrans, the Arkonides and the Galacticum have not accomplished because of their hesitation: it proves that the Onryones are not invincible. But Toccepur still has a trump card in his back pocket. He asks the Tefroders to leave the system. Otherwise, the Luna Atopic Court will be transferred to the orbit of Tefor, the center of the New Tamanium. Toccepur also announces the upcoming deactivation of the Polyport network.

These events reach the ears of the New USO. Ronald Tekener has just returned with the ARGO from an audience with Bostich. The Arkonide emperor, while considering the Atopic Tribunal's indictment absurd, has withdrawn from the public eye for safety's sake. The Cheborparner Uldormuhecze Foelybeczt (U-Fo) represents him in the Galacticum. Tekener and Lord Admiral Monkey suspect that the emergence of the Atopic Tribunal and the Tefroder force demonstrations did not happen at about the same time by chance. Monkey assumes that Vetris-Molaud has a pact with the Onryones. Although the USO is committed to all Galactic peoples, Monkey decides to act like Atlan once did - he wants to help the Terrans. The removal of Luna from the Sol system would even be an advantage for the Terrans in the current situation. Therefore, it must be prevented that the Tefroders follow Toccepur’s demands. A task force led by Tekener should advance via JERGALL to ITHAFOR-5 and provoke further combat operations. However, the transfer is disturbed. The already familiar time delays occur. Arriving at the destination, Tekener’s SERUN announces that all life functions of the Terran have failed and his heart has been irreparably damaged. Tekener collapses.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Holy cow! Space battles, USO intrigue, and the possible death of a cell activator bearer,oh my! Turn after turn of events! Will I stop using exclamation points!? Come back next week, same Bat time, same Bat channel! :P

Thank goodness for Uwe Anton. I love his writing and as head of the expose team at this point, he always gets good plotlines to work on.

2715 Mission in the Polyport Court

Beitrag von jerrys109 »

Vol 2715
Mission in the Polyport Court
Einsatz im Polyport-Hof
von Uwe Anton

The SERUN implants the Cybermed unit in Ronald Tekener's chest, keeping him alive. The other three members of the action team - Ellendea Lon, Mathis de Veer and the Jülziish Cheprijl - suffer like Tekener from various forms of organ damage and illnesses that they apparently contracted during the mysteriously slowed down Polyport transfer. They reach the WOCAUD, but only on August 3, 1514 NGE. Thus, they only have just under three days left until the expiration of the ultimatum of the Onryones. Lon needs to take off her medical support battle suit as she makes her way to the old Jülziish positronic brain to use it to infect the "Poltergeist" program in the spaceships of the Tefroder fleet. Her appearance resembles that of a Tefroder, so she can move fairly freely in the Polyport Court. She suffers from hallucinations caused by the drugs that stabilize her condition. Nevertheless, she is successful. Almost unmasked, she calls Tekener and the others over the radio to rendezvous.

The presence of the strangers is not completely hidden from the Tefroders. However, they assume that they are Onryones. Vetris-Molaud has already left the Court. He has given orders to avoid any conflicts with the Onryones. He wants to cooperate, in order to earn the cell activator. Gornen Kandrit sends the Tefroder Mutant Corps to kill the invaders. At the same time, the reception of an Onryone delegation is being prepared. When Tekener learns about this, he decides on a parallel plan. While his comrades install the computer virus, he lurks by the delegation and kills an Onryone. It should look like the man was murdered by the Tefroders.

After that, the hunt for Tekener's team really starts. The mutants are always close on the heels of the USO Specialists. The mission is still completed successfully. The Tefroder fleet is faked by a two layer attack by the Poltergeist virus. Commander Maalun orders the counterattack, and so again a space battle ensues in the Ghatamyz system. Tekener has prepared a Tefroder hunter to launch, but now it is under an energy screen, set up by the mutants, who now attack. Lan Meota uses his gift to shove Lon's heart out of her body. The dying woman explodes the last screen projector so the three others can escape. The hunter is taken in by Anna Patoman's ship GALBRAITH DEIGHTON V.

As expected, Ghonvar Toccepur announces the moving of Luna to the Tefroder home system. The Onryonian fleet leaves the Ghatamyz system. Then Vetris-Molaud gives the mutants a new order. Their next destination is the Sol system.

On August 9, 1514 NGE at 5:37 PM Luna disappears from Earth orbit. The Sol system wraps itself in the crystal screen.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Holy cow, that was intense! I always enjoy USO mission issues. There's like a little espionage to spice up a storyline. So, Tekener is still sticking round. He's a hard man to kill, that Smiler. :D

2716 The Polyport Disaster

Beitrag von jerrys109 »

Hi everyone. I'm back form my vacation in England, so here we go...

Nr. 2716
The Polyport Disaster
Das Polyport Desaster
by Wim Vandemaan

On July 21, 1514 NGE, Perry Rhodan meets with Bostich on Poschkor, a planet of the sun San in the Cerkol star cluster. The subject under discussion is the problems with the Polyport network. Bostich is against Rhodan's proposed shutdown of the system. As Prefect of the Polyport domain, so Bostich declares, Rhodan is instead obliged to save the Polyport network. Rhodan also speaks of a great vision, of a project lasting for centuries. The goal is an intergalactic defense bulwark against cosmic threats, almost a Galacticum spread over multiple galaxies.

Rhodan retrieves the Ur-controller and travels via the Polyport system to the Trade Star JERGALL, where he arrives with a delay as an old man. The cell activator has to do hard labor. After two days in a coma Rhodan is again his old self. Despite this experience, he risks it again, together with the Shadow Maahk Pral in the small spaceship PRECVER to go from JERGALL to FATICO. Rhodan begins aging rapidly again. Pral says the network's vital bonus has grown exponentially. Rhodan has never heard this term before and demands an explanation. Pral claims that the Eiris of ES is an essential component of the network. The net had built up almost exactly along the Eiris band and gets supplied by this with vital energy. To compensate for fluctuations in supply, the network deprives all its passengers of small amounts of vital energy. In other words, the network is alive, and the increased vital energy consumption can only mean that it is fighting for survival.

The transfer of the PRECVER results in a "soft" collision with another spaceship. It is the WIZARD OF OZ, a Terran colonist ship that was launched on August 28, 2171 AD with the destination Gwydion in the Rigel sector, but it had never arrived. The twenty thousand settlers and two thousand crew members are stuck because their ship collided with an unknown object during a transition. It's a spaceship like a huge ax stuck in the eight hundred meter spherical ship and spreads like a wedge-shaped fog zone from the lower pole to the deck underneath the torus. Rhodan and Pral enter the WIZARD, which only gradually becomes material for them. The arrival of the " Grand Administrator " cheers the crew, but Captain Tyrone Kilmacthomas is skeptical because Rhodan behaves with clear reluctance in some ways. Rhodan gives the man the truth and makes it clear that by no means have only eighty-two days passed since the launch of the WIZARD from Heathrow Space Port, but much longer.

Rhodan learns that the crew of the WIZARD is repeatedly haunted by uncanny, unresponsive beings. These Para-Material Action Figures (PaMAKs) are referred to as "the Whites," or because of their unbearable screeching, as " Banshees”. They come out of the M*** zone, kidnap people and turn them into weird biomechanical objects left behind in the WIZARD. In contrast to the WIZARD crew, Rhodan and Pral can penetrate into the fog zone. They make dreamlike contact with alien creatures that come from a future at least five billion years away. For the strangers who call themselves INSTANCE, life is extremely precious. They want to save the WIZARD crew, but it is not possible to bring the people back to their (or Rhodan's) time. The people have to follow the INSTANCE into the future. In addition, Pral, whose Polyport controller has been changed by the INSTANCE, has to merge with the Polyport network in order to understand what is wrong with it - the Shadow Maahk had suffered heavy damage during the transfer anyway, so his death is only a matter of time.

After all the people have switched from the WIZARD to the ship of the INSTANCE, Rhodan speaks one last time about the controller with Pral. The Shadow Maahk has determined that the Polyport network is no longer in sync with normal space. So-called Xenochronies, like those in which the WIZARD is trapped, drift through the net and block the routes. Within such a Xenochronous bubble, the passage of time and causality lose their meaning. A power that is stronger and completely different than the Onryones is responsible for this. Rhodan flees with the PRECVER to the Polyport-Court GALILEO. He has no choice now. He shuts down the Polyport network with his Ur-controller.

Rhodan arrives in GALILEO on the 26th of August. He lost four weeks on the way. Sichu Dorksteiger brings him up to date. Rhodan learns that Luna has disappeared. Since recently, the Onryones have been less interested in the Sol system and more in Arkon.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

This was an interesting side story that might have ramifications in a mini-series some day, but for the most part had no relation to the main story.
The Xenochronies will undoubtedly be dealt with later this cycle, since they need to re-open the Polyport system and Rhodan's dream of the San Project will probably unfold over another cycle or two. I'm just glad that Wim knows how to tell a good story.

2717 Vothantar Zhy

Beitrag von jerrys109 »

Nr. 2717
Vothantar Zhy
von Susan Schwartz

The Jaj shapeshifters Gemian Ocary and Vloster Shyogh have a clear mission: Arkon must fall!

The Crystal Empire has enough problems even without the intervention of the Atopic Tribunal. More and more Arkonides are taking refuge in the Brass world, a virtual reality in which they have more time for all sorts of adventures and distractions. The resulting shortage of skilled workers is also clearly noticeable in the Crystal Palace. Tormanac da Hozarius, for fourteen years Vice Emperor has governed virtually alone - especially since Imperator Bostich has disappeared from the scene. Tormanac owns a one hundred twenty thousand ship strong heavily armed fleet of robot ships of the EPPRIK class built to reinforce the fifty thousand spaceships of the home fleet. Ghlesduul, Tormanac's bodyguard and adviser, died eighteen years ago. The Vice Imperator still "consults" with the head of the Naat kept in a cryo-vault. He is only one hundred thirty years old but looks much older. He suffers from Khesdar's disease, an illness that leads to increased disturbances of the consciousness. His personal doctor Vavcanto tells him that he may not have a year left to live.

When about eighty thousand Onryone ships appear in several waves in the Arkon system on August 24, 1514 NGE, Tormanac immediately gives the order to activate the crystal screen and impose martial law. Kalosd Xallavor, from the Space Father GOOSPYR, announces himself and claims that his Space Pack has arrived only to protect the Arkonides against a criminal. He demands landing permission on Naat and the extradition of Bostich. Tormanac rejects this. Xallavor then turns to the public and offers a cell activator as a reward for the seizure of Bostich. At the same time the Jajs are active in the Subtorcas complex, the control center of the crystal screen. Commander Yscrou da Scadgasd recognizes that a saboteur has invaded but cannot prevent the destruction of the control center. She and some crew members, including the young technician Thala, save themselves by transmitter to Vothantar Zhy. This top secret station in a fragment of the ruined planet Arkon III is the actual defensive center of the system of with override functions. As long as Vothantar Zhy is standing, the crystal screen remains active. Yscrou, however, has the unpleasant feeling of having overlooked something important.

Ronald Tekener is not his old self yet. He is getting used to his new heart, bred from his own body cells. De-Len Melia of the Thai - Khasurn Erestide, an ambassador from Bostich, arrives at Quinto Center and asks Monkey to act as the Emperor's personal bodyguard. Since the Lord Admiral is indispensable where he is, Tekener goes on the mission in his place. With his ARGO, a largely automated battle cruiser of the MARS class, the Smiler flies to a rendezvous point. The GOS'TUSSAN II, Bostich's six thousand meter long double Khasurn spaceship, is already waiting there. In light of the current events, Bostich has decided to return personally to the Arkon system - just in time to witness the arrival of Judge Chuv on August 28th. Chuv seeks entry into the system, which of course is denied to him. The CHUVANC, the ellipsoid, eight thousand six hundred meter long ship of the Atope steers directly at the crystal screen and starts to cross it, unfazed by the para-realities generated by the screen. The CHUVANC thereby creates a tunnel through which the Onryone ships can follow.

Bostich hesitates, but then gives the order to attack…
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Well, this is a fun turn of events. It's not often that Bostich has to ask for help from the USO. This issue had plenty of fun action and should lead to more fun net issue. Even though it seems like it might get a bit predictable. Time will tell. :D

2718 Passage to Arkon

Beitrag von jerrys109 »

Nr. 2718
Passage to Arkon
Passage nach Arkon
von Hubert Haensel

The GOS'TUSSAN II follows the CHUVANC into the tunnel through the crystal screen and attacks Chuv's spaceship. Three heavy transform volleys are fired, but they cannot penetrate the Judge ship's miniature Repulsor wall. After the Genifers of the CHUVANC manage to locate the double Khasurn space spaceship camouflaged with a shadow screen, Chuv strikes back. The GOS'TUSSAN II is hit and has to turn back.

Tormanac da Hozarius sends the EPPRIK robot fleet into battle. Shortly after crossing structural gaps in the crystal screen, hundreds of units fall victim to the Onryonic linear- space torpedoes. Sixty thousand more Onryone ships appear in two waves, so that the Arkon system is now besieged by one hundred forty thousand ships. The robots can do nothing against this superiority. They are tied up in skirmishes away from the screen, while the CHUVANC and some Onryone ships finally pierce the crystal screen.

Both Tormanac and Bostich trust that the crystal screen will keep the bulk of the Onryone fleet away from Arkon. But in Vothantar Zhy, the second Jaj, Gemian Ocary, becomes active. She has penetrated in the form of the technician Thala da Jorriskaugen into the central switching point of the system defense system. Yscrou da Scadgasd tracks down the shapeshifter but cannot stop her from disabling the station's shield and turning on the cage transmitter. Onryone troops held ready for this moment materialize in masses. The fighters take the one hundred meter diameter bunker sphere. In conversation with Cenfellor, Yscrou learns the full extent of Chuv's plan. The Judge does not intend to deactivate the crystal screen. Instead, the Arkon system is to become the new base of the Atopic Tribunal. In the future, the name of the true children of this solar system, the Naats , will be used for Arkon: the Baag system.

The GOS'TUSSAN II flies back into the Arkon system. Bostich is planning an attack on Vothantar Zhy, because he realizes that the possession of this station decides over the fate of Arkon.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Plenty of fun going on here in this issue. There are so many fronts to keep track of in this war, even if an issue only concentrates. It's hard to keep track of the timeframe. I hope these characters continue through the cycle.

Boarding Command GOS'TUSSAN
Enterkommando GOS’TUSSAN

Bostich is prepared to sacrifice Vothantar Zhy to prevent the Arkon system from becoming the impregnable fortress of the Atopic Tribunal. His attack, however, is repulsed and the GOS'TUSSAN II is disabled by the CHUVANC with a weapon, which receives the name Babylonian Dazzler because of its effect. It interrupts the entire in-vessel communication of the target through feedback effects with the Paratron screen, resulting in the failure of all systems not protected by HÜ screens. Onryonic boarding commandos invade the defenseless double cup spaceship. They have the assignment to arrest Bostich. He flees together with his bodyguard Ronald Tekener into a secret auxiliary center.

Meanwhile, Tormanac da Hozarius meets with Chuv for negotiations on the planet Naat. The Judge announces that the Atopic Ordo must be enforced. For this reason, the Baag system (The Naats’ name for the Arkon system) must be returned to its true children, the Naats. The Arkonides are to clear the system within a year, otherwise they are threatened with extinction. The Vice-Imperator considers such a speedy evacuation impossible, but he only succeeds in negotiating a five-year extension.

The Jaj Gemian Ocary again uses his Thala form to get close to the Imperator. Bostich sees through the deception and kills the shapeshifter. A little later they are taken in the pincers by the Onryones. They accidentally kill Bostich - an unfortunate oversight, because he was supposed to be captured alive, at all costs. Tekener heads alone for his ship the ARGO but is attacked by a superior force near the battlecruiser. Suddenly Katsugo - fighting robots appear and paralyze the Onryones. A man in a battle suit with a mirrored helmet leads the robots. It is Bostich! In his place, a robotic double covered with organic material grown from Bostich's cells had been the one to "die". During his entire stay in the GOS'TUSSAN II, Tekener had exclusively dealt with this double. It was remotely controlled by Bostich via a mental dilatation helmet, which explained the delayed responses observed by Tekener. More copies of this highly developed Vario-1000 model meanwhile appear everywhere in the GOS'TUSSAN II to the confusion of the Onryones.

Bostich loses the GOS'TUSSAN II and orders Has'athor Famai to surrender. He and Tekener leave the spaceship with the ARGO, cross the crystal screen over the still active para-tunnel and fly to the Sol system, where Perry Rhodan is meeting with Solar Premier Cai Cheung...

Lots of fun action in this issue, considering that it brought little movement to the overall storyline. Tekener and Bostich make an amusing couple and the Atopic Tribunal continues to appear unstoppable. Oh dear, what to do? :D Time to move to anew actin scene. Can't wait to see what happens next.

2720 In the Star of Apsuma

In the Star of Apsuma
Im Stern von Apsuma
by Uwe Anton

Ghonvar Toccepur has announced the transfer of the Atopic Tribuanl. On September 1, 1514 NGE Luna is scheduled to appear in orbit of Tefor. In fact, the moon disappears from Earth orbit on August 9th. In the following weeks, the Helitas system, the heart of the New Tamanium, this is causing riots and attacks on non-Tefroders. Care Minister Ashya Thosso tries to keep the people in line with propaganda and get them to swear themselves to the upcoming fight against the Atopic Tribunal. Vetris-Molaud continues to rely on the strategy of military power. Heavy duty Paratron launchers are produced with high pressure and positioned throughout the system to give the techno-moon a proper reception. But the High Tamaron does not find the undivided approval of his people. A secret resistance movement plans his murder.

The cloth merchant A. C. Blumencron observes the developments on Tefor from his private ship, the FRANCESCO DATINI, parked in the spaceport of the capital Apsuma. Blumencron, his partner Lebbovitz and the tailor Ghoussep have set up an office in the ultralight cruiser and are doing good business. So Blumencron sells an expensive bereavement robe (traditional Tefrodish mourning clothing) to the Tefroder Gador Athinas, the Production Manager of a factory producing Paratron launchers. The man had lost his wife, and now his son has died in the fighting in the Ghatamyz system. In a thoughtless moment he vented his hatred of Vetris-Molaud to his brother-in-law Kelen-Setre. He is a member of the resistance and recruits Gador Athinas. Kelen-Setre thinks it's time to take action against Vetris-Molaud, because he finally found the right weapon: the Tomopat Schechter.

Tomopats are humanoid beings with tentacle arms that can be transformed into terrible weapons. If threatened, they lose all self-control and enter a bloodlust. In this state, Schechter committed a murder some time ago for which he now serves time in the maximum security prison Holosker on the ice world Aunna. He repeatedly comes into conflict with other prisoners and is sent on the "picnic" as punishment by the Tefrodish guards: he and his adversaries are exposed to the environment miles away from Holosker. On the way back, they must either avoid the aggressive robot worms traversing the unsafe deadly ice desert or kill their companions in return for an immediate return to the prison. But Schechter has a guardian angel: the overseer Kelen-Setre. So he survives the inhumane conditions of detention. On behalf of his brother-in-law, Gador-Athinas brings the Tomopat, who once again ends up in "picnic", to safety with a glider.

The Tefroders are celebrating their glorious leader because Luna does not appear at Tefor on the 1st of September, nor on the following day. The KEEN OF HEARING IS THE EAR OF JUSTICE of the Tesqire Dhayqe materializes in the Helitas system. He announces that the Atopic Tribunal has redeployed the Earth’s moon. In a private meeting with Vetris-Molaud, Dhayqe concretizes the well-known offer of the Atopes. If the High Tamaron ensures that Bostich gets into the hands of the Tribunal, he will receive a cell activator as a reward. Dhayqe assumes that Bostich is in the Sol system. Vetris-Molaud is satisfied because his Mutant Corps, comprised of the Four Conquerors, is already on site…

I'm surprised at how consistently enjoyable this cycle is so far. Uwe Anton always provides a fun romp for his readers and this issue is no different. Palace intrigues, deadly danger and interesting characters are definitely his cup of tea. And I'm always happy to drink it in.

2721 The Para-thief

The Para-thief
Der Paradieb
by Leo Lukas

Toio Zindher, Satafar, Lan Meota and Trelast-Pevor reach the Sol system as stowaways in cargo containers. They assume the identity of a family that has been holding themselves ready in the exclusive Cosmoledo Orbital space station residence for quite some time now. Their journey continues to Terrania. The four mutants lodge in the luxury hotel Croesus Terrania, where they cause an explosion. In doing so, they eliminate a butler who has come too close to them, and it now looks to the public as if they themselves had found death. In truth, they prepare the attack on their target: Perry Rhodan. As a Vital Telepath, Toio Zindher can detect the vital energy traces of cell activator bearers for 62 hours, up to a distance of two billion kilometers. So she noticed Rhodan landing on August 26, 1514 NGE. The arrival of Bostich and Ronald Tekener a few days later does not remain hidden to her either.

Prof. Andressou Bouring is caring for the comatose mousebeaver Gucky in the Startac Schroeder Clinic. Severin Fock, a mutant from TIPI, also lands there after a sports accident. Severin has no eyes but is not blind. He has a gift that he calls "picture-watching" and that enables him to see through the eyes of all those around him. He is not a true telepath, for he cannot read minds. Bouring brings Severin together with his most prominent patient. The mutant gradually penetrates to Pucky. The mousebeaver awakens on the 1st of September and is physically well, but has all lost all his para-abilities, even though his psi-potential has increased even more. When he touches Severin, Gucky unintentionally deprives the young man of all his para-ability and vital energy, killing him.

Gucky blames himself for Severin's death and flees. The situation gets out of control when siblings Shadin and Muaz Riocourt, two of Severin's friends from TIPI, arrive too. Shadin Riocourt has the ability to evoke euphoric feelings in other people. Muaz is a weak telekinetic and also has horrible visions, which causes him to radiate his fear. Pucky is influenced by this. He accidentally collides with Muaz, absorbs his vital energy and para-abilities also. This second death makes him want to commit suicide. Shadin uses her powers to stop him from doing so. She is convinced that Pucky can control himself. In fact, nothing happens as, under her influencing, he allows her to touch him. On September 4th, Gucky talks to Perry Rhodan for the first time since awakening. The mousebeaver still suffers from his recent experiences, but Rhodan needs Gucky's help and wants to take him from the Clinic.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Holy end of status quo! Hopefully, Gucky's new powers will help get him more time on stage. I've missed him so much. This was another great issue. It's very sad about the lives lost, but this certainly can bring along many exciting possibilities. Gucky versus the Four Conquerors is bound to be a real humdinger of an encounter.
